This is played in the same way as snakes and ladders only you follow the direction on the mouse when you land on that square. There are 26 boards in total and are organised in sets following Letters and Sounds. Each set has a sound board and word boards that contain words that have the sound in that set and previous sets. There is also a tricky words board.

Looking for a fun way to practice reading or writing words during Phonics? Then this is for you. Kym's Game is a memory game where pupils have to remember which picture is missing. It can be used as a writing activity or which the word boards as a reading activity. Pupils identify which picture they think is missing by either writing or cover the word on the word boards. Once they’ve been cut out (sorry I know its a fiddly one), children pick a sound and find the 4 puzzle pieces that begin or end with that sound. Consonant letters apart from k (only 2 pictures that started with this sound) can be used as a writing activity as all the pictures can be spelt phonetically.A recording sheet has been included. Vowel letters are initial sounds.

The idea is that the coloured puzzle piece are sorted by the pictures which are either for the initial sound or has that sound in the word ( ck, ll, ff, ss). They then make the sound when put together either using the black and white base or without to make it challenging. The same pictures have been used on both letters for ff,ll,ss and there are a couple of word puzzle on the jigsaw piece i.e me__, stu__.

Either call out the sounds and children put a counter on the picture matching that sound or play it as I spy and children tell you what picture starts with that sound and if they are correct they put a counter on it. Could also be played in pairs. 4 picture boards and a set of sounds

Looking activities and games to revise or consolidate Phase 3? Then look no further … This mega 150 paged pack has activities and games that cover Phase 3 sounds and words. It has been divided up into initial sounds, writing and spelling, reading and some alien word activities. A black and white cover has been included which can be used to create a booklet. The idea is you can pick and choose which activities and games you want your children to focus on. It can be as individual as you like. Ideal to use as revision of the phase, extra practice or to send home.

Option to pause if your pupils need more time to blend. Writing activity: play the video and pause it when it stops on a picture. Pupils then can write the word. Once they have written it continue to play the video and pupils can check if they have written it correctly.

Place them on the checker start. Pupils roll the dice (to make the game last longer use a 1-3 numbered dice) and move that many spaces. They read the word the land on. First one back to the checker wins.
